ESFNA Kicks Off Its 25th Anniversary ESFNA kicks off its 25th anniversary with much fanfare and anticipation. Preceding the ESFNA kick off, DC was abuzz with soccer with world renowned football star David Beckam. Following the much anticipated and nationally televised DC united and LA galaxy game, ESFNA moved into the historic RFK stadium. The opening ceremony was indeed a crowning achievement for many that worked tirelessly through the years to make ESFNA what it is today. In the usual ESFNA fashion, Ethiopians of all back ground gathered to celebrate their unique heritage and culture. Ababa Tesfaye Sahlu, the guest of honor in the arts and humanities category, brought the crowd to their feet with his usual, “Endemen nachihoo lijoch, yezare abebawoch ye nege firewoch”. |

25th ANNIVERSARY OF ESFNA We at ESFNA are excited and thrilled to go back to Washington, DC to celebrate our 25th silver jubilee in a city where most Ethiopians live outside of Ethiopia. This event has been 3 years in the making anticipating the heavy turnout by tens of thousands of Ethiopians around the globe. We would like to take this opportunity and thank our five DC area teams, also known as DC-5, for their tireless work and the first rate accommodations they provided ESFNA both in soccer stadium and hotel accommodations. This year, befitting our 25th anniversary, ESFNA has secured the world-class RFK stadium as our tournament venue. It is indeed a great feat to accomplish to have our silver jubilee celebrated where the likes of Pele once graced this famed stadium, named for the late Robert F Kennedy. Read More... |
