    Thank You San Jose!

ESFNA would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to our fans, players, vendors and visitors for making our 27th anniversary a success. It was, by far, one of the best tournaments we had in recent years. Our annual event designed to promote good will among the various Ethiopian communities in the US and Canada would not have been possible without the un-conditional support we received from all of you. We also, would like to thank the Ethiopian community in San Jose for their gracious hospitality and wonderful accommodations throughout the tournament. Our member teams, San Jose Anbessa and San Francisco Walliya have done an outstanding job of hosting and in the process raised the bar.

The weather was California perfect for soccer and get together. Sunny in the day time with a slight breeze in the evenings.

The crowd was typical Ethiopian. From teen-agers to adults, kids to seniors, beautiful young ladies to handsome young men could be seen celebrating their rich cultural heritage at the hotels and Spartan Stadium. One can feel the family atmosphere everywhere. You could see our beloved tri-colors green, yellow and red all over down town San Jose.

The level of soccer being played on the field was second to none. Even teams in Division II performed better than ever. Majority of the games were very competitive and entertaining. We would like to welcome our newest team from Kansas Cityto the ESFNA family.

The vending area was so specious that the usual over-crowded feeling was not there. The area designated for kids was the largest ever and it created a safe environment for kids to run around playing and making new friends. The variety and quality of food available at the vendors’ booth was also something to remember.

The enthusiasm of the Ethiopian Day crowd was amazing and electric. We would like to thank all the entertainers and musicians that participated in our Ethiopian Day and Closing Night celebration.

Again, thank you all and we can’t wait to see you again next year.
